The beauty of this documentary project is that it’s a story about Steve Prefontaine and the people of his hometown of Coos Bay, produced by graduates of Pre’s high school Marshfield. We all bring unique skills, contributions and connections to the project.
Brad Jenkins Executive Producer
Brad brings years of producing talent to the track. He received his Master of Science in Communications from Golden Gate University and has been producing quality content ever since. Brad was born and raised in Coos Bay, Oregon and is a 1981 graduate of Marshfield High School.
Travis Johnson Executive Producer, Director of Photography
Travis Johnson is an Emmy Award winning Director of Photography with more than 25 years in the TV broadcast industry. Travis’ work has aired on most of the major TV networks including The Discovery Channel, History Channel, Travel Channel, ABC, NBC, CNN, ESPN & FOX Sports. He has DP’d over a dozen documentaries and worked on many current reality shows. Travis was born and raised in Coos Bay, Oregon and is a 1981 graduate of Marshfield High School.
George Whitty Music Composer
Grammy-award winning keyboardist George Whitty has spent 20 years playing on the road with the Brecker Brothers, Herbie Hancock, David Sanborn, Richard Bona, Chaka Khan, Sadao Watanabe, and a dozen others, and his resume as a session musician includes some of the best-selling records of all time. As a composer, he’s written for hundreds of episodes of television and several award-winning films. George was born and raised in Coos Bay, Oregon and is a 1980 graduate of Marshfield High School.
Chris Peterson Oscar Nominated Illustrator
The most creative Pirate, Chris has been creating quality content his whole life as a cartoonist and animator. Chris has worked for Disney Films and currently is lighting director for Laika, having worked on such animated films as ParaNorman and Coraline, which received a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. He is currently in production with Laika’s next animated production, The Boxtrolls. Chris was born and raised in Coos Bay, Oregon and is a 1981 graduate of Marshfield High School.
Tom Jenkins Retired Marshfield Athletic Director
Tom brings 60 plus years of Pirate knowledge and networking to the ship. He has been a MHS student, teacher, coach, Athletic Director, and four-time Hall-of-Fame inductee. He brings invaluable historical facts and connections-to former Marshfield Alumni’s to the project. Anything to do with Pirate ship operations, Tom knows about it. Tom is a 1958 graduate of Marshfield High School.
